Mary Bunatal
My name is Mary and I am Ghanaian-Kenyan American.. I moved to Ghana as a child and moving back home to Africa allowed me to reconnect and appreciate both my Ghanaian and Kenyan heritage. I wish everyone had the opportunity to be able to go to Africa to experience how beautiful our continent is, and for Africans of the Diaspora from all over the world to get the opportunity to visit the continent at least once. Africa is home to many of us.
I started Kozulu by bringing together three things that are incredibly important to me - wellness, travelling to Africa and food. Learning about cultures through food motivates me to travel and explore the world. I’ve always been the traveler who preferred exploring nature, meditating, and taking time out to truly experience a new country that allow me to breathe and be present. I fell in love with taking vacations to Africa to create my own personal retreats to reset from day-to-day life and work. And I hope to bring more of you along on this journey with me to enjoy relaxing, restful retreats.
I pursued my bachelors degree in accounting and marketing at New York University and my masters degree in hospitality management at Cornell University. I currently live in Los Angeles and in my free time I enjoy cooking, going on hikes, yoga, visiting Joshua Tree or Malibu and learning about the cosmos.
